  • Caring For Dry Hair

Do you find that more often than not, you're having a bad hair day? Well, your hair is probably suffering from lack of moisture and lots and lots of damage. So, how do you get that luxurious head of hair perfectly styled, without the heat damage and painstaking styling time? Below are some reasons for dry hair and what you can do about it.Reasons for dry hair:Heat Damage- The most common culprit of dry hair. We tend to think: "How can I make my hair pretty today? How can I make it different--surprising?" We do so much to our hair to make it appear beautiful; including straight ironing, blow drying, using hot curlers, and curling irons. Ironically enough, we torture our hair because we want it to look amazing--damaging it in the process. We stretch it in so many different directions it's hard to count and then hit it with the final blast of heat surrounding it on all sides. Sound pleasant to you?Stripped Hair-There is nothing wrong with clean hair, but there is a difference between clean hair and stripped hair. Clean hair means removing any build up from the day including dirt and any other pollutants that may have affected your hair's performance and shine. Stripped hair means you've taken everything out. Everything. You've removed that dirt and grime and with it, you've stripped the natural oils that your hair needs to be healthy and moisturized.Chemical Filled Products- Whether it be a monthly perm, straightening, hair dye, or silicone based styling products-- you are ruining your hair. Ever wonder why in the at-home-hair-dye kits they have a special conditioner to use after a dye treatment? They provide it because you absolutely need it after applying dye to your hair or any other chemical treatment.Steps to Healthy Hair:Preventative Measures- If you absolutely have to style your hair every day for fear that your hair will fall out-- then it probably will. But to prevent that from happening, use some type of protective styling products that will work with the heat instead of leaving your hair to fend for itself. Phyto, one of the world-leading brands in hair products offers some great specified collections for individual hair types including styling products that will work with the heat.Don't Smell Your Shampoo- Do you love love love your shampoo because of it's scent? Chances are it is probably compensating for something lacking in the important stuff (also known as the ingredients). The fragrances you smell in most every shampoo these days require alcohol. It is a well-known fact that alcohol has drying properties.Solution- buy the shampoo for more than its scent. There are exceptions to the "scent factor" many gentle shampoos use botanicals that are helpful to our hair instead of destructive-- so play it safe and read the ingredients. If it has alcohol- don't buy it. If it has mostly botanicals, it's probably a very safe choice. Remember there is a difference between naturally based alcohol and chemically based alcohol. If you don't get the right shampoo, you will end up stripping the natural oils that are meant for your hair and provide it with all of its moisture. If you can help it, don't wash your hair daily. Find a way to hide your oily hair by using head bands or slicking your hair back into a tight bun so you can keep those natural oils.

  • Ways to Care For Your Hair - Girls and Women Only

Most people think basic hair care involves salon visits for hot oils and hair spas. To save on cost and to save that hair, we may need to practice personal hair care practices such washing, brushing, and styling. Let us start to beautify your hair from root to tip with this basic information in mind. Hair health and strength largely depends on oily scalp secretion and circulation which tends to give it gloss and luster. We must remember that it is made up of structured protein called keratin that determines its docility. As soon as it comes out they die and become hardened to form the hair shaft and guard the most delicate layers below. Knowing that the shaft is dead it simply does not have the ability to repair itself thus making any damage permanent. To once again have shiny easy to manage hair, one must wait for new undamaged ones to grow. Generally it grows about ?" per month. The goal of this basic hair care is to minimize damage and provide temporary improvement. We find hair in all shapes, sizes, and textures but taking care of them is practically the same all throughout the process. The ultimate skill one must learn is combing and brushing hair as an early morning routine. Detangle hair first with a large tail comb 11" long made of bone that has ?" of space between the teeth. It is not healthy to just pull or tug delicate hair strands because it will result to hair breakage. Combing makes it easy for us to wash the hair. Then brush the hair to help redistribute the oil and loosen dirt. This is extremely beneficial for normal hair because it moves the oil from the scalp to the entire hair strands. Brush about 1" away from your scalp if you have oily hair. To complete the process for long hair, try bending at the waist and put your head down then move the brush from the back of your head to the front. Never apply the 100 strokes a day myth for hair care because it is already excessive brushing that may cause more damage. Combing or brushing helps maintain a well groomed appearance. The next best thing is to wash your hair with a mild shampoo as often as necessary. Wet your hair thoroughly with warm or lukewarm water to wash the oil and dirt off. Then pour shampoo on the palm of your hand, rub your hands together, and then apply the shampoo to your scalp. Shampoos have the components that may dry your hair and cause it to split so it is wise to apply the shampoo to your scalp and not at the ends of your hair directly. If your shampoo isn't lathering it may need more water because it is not wet enough. Do not add anymore shampoos. During shampoo, massage the scalp with the tips of your fingers to avoid scalp irritation. A five minute scalp massage stimulates circulation and makes the hair grow. Make a good lather or foam and distribute it throughout the hair strands after doing scalp massage. For excessively long or damaged hair, you may divide the scalp into quadrants or half then shampoo, just follow the process. Oily hair may need a second shampoo to get the hair and scalp thoroughly cleaned. Second shampoos also serve to treat the hair just leave it on your hair for a few seconds. Rinse hair completely using either lukewarm or warm water. Shampoos work best with warm water. Never pull or tug your hair to get the excess water out before applying conditioner. Simply squeeze the water out gently.Soaking wet strands don't absorb conditioner very well. Use conditioners after shampooing to coat hair strands with thin film for a smooth feel and to fill in rough, uneven surfaces. Conditioners add body and makes hair manageable. You should apply conditioners right after shampooing. Apply it along the hairline, nape, and ends of the hair. Wrap your hair with a hair cap and let it stay for about 10 minutes. Rinse off your hair with cold water to add shine to your hair and boost circulation in your scalp. Conditioner is already washed out when your hair feels slightly slippery. Best conditioners to use are protein based conditioners.Wrap hair with a towel and pat it dry. Try not to rub hair to prevent hair breakage. Then comb wet hair with a wide toothed, smooth-edged comb with blunt tips. You may then work out tangles by combing gently from the ends and work towards the scalp. People always do this the wrong way. Never brush wet hair because it can tear your hair. Remember not to wash your hair more than once a day for you might be removing too much of the natural oil found in the hair. Try alternating shampoos using one type once or twice a week. Changing brands will keep your hair shiny and full of life. Traditional bar soaps are not recommended for hair use. Soap bonds with oil with such affinity that it tends to remove too much when used as a shampoo replacement.Air drying or blow drying your hair is simply a matter of choice. Hair is not susceptible to damage when air dried as when it is blow dried. When blow drying set the temperature to medium and make sure the hair is not soaking wet. Hold the dryer at least 6" away from your hair moving it constantly around your head. Then bend over and blow-dry your hair hanging upside down. Never dry your hair completely with a blow dryer. Hair is very fragile and it is best to stop while it is still slightly damp. Now we are done with basic hair care and you will see nice improvements in your hair for the next few weeks.

  • Hearing Aid Care: Protecting Your Investment

I wasn't surprised when I learned I had a hearing loss. My father was hard of hearing, my aunt was hard of hearing, and my brother was hard of hearing. Since my insurance plan doesn't cover the cost of hearing aids, I paid for them, a staggering $4,200. To protect my investment, I bought an insurance plan.Having things in my ears felt odd and it took me several months to become used to the aids. During this time, I learned how to care for them. Here are some of the things I do.1. Buy batteries in bulk. I buy mind at a discount store and load up to avoid extra trips.2. Use a drying jar or dehumidifyer. My aids came with a drying jar. At night, just before bed, I open the battery chambers to let air in, put them in the jar, and screw on the lid. Experts say this drying prolongs the life of your aids.3. Clean regularly. I also received a cleaning tool with a brush on one end and a wire circle on the other. It's a fragile tool and, after the wire is bent, I get free replacements from the store.4. Pay attention to microphone screens. According to "Take Care of Your Hearing Aids, So They Can Take Care of You," an article on the Healthy Hearing website, microphone screens can become clogged. A clogged screen won't pick up sounds clearly, so I use the brush to keep the holes open.5. Avoid water. Unfortunately, preoccupied people can forget they are wearing ear gear and wear aids in the shower. To keep this from happening I follow a routine. Just before I get in the shower, I remove the aids and set them on top of my drying jar.6. Be careful with hair products. This advice comes from "Hearing Aid Care Made Simple: Top 10 Tips to Care for Your Ear Gear," published on the Healthy Hearing website. Remove your aids when you use hair products. Hair spray, for example, may clog the microphone screen.7. Use a protective case. I carry a small quilted case and it use it for new and spent batteries. If I'm caught in a downpour, I put my ear gear in the case.8. Check the weather. If you're going to water the lawn, it may be wise to leave your ear gear in the house. Don't ever leave your gear in the car during extremely hot weather.

  • Curly Hair Is Hard To Maintain

People are never satisfied with what they have and because of that we often hear women with curly hair complaining about their tresses. Nevertheless, your natural hair is purposefully designed to fit our physical features; therefore, stylists advise you to try your best to make your natural locks look as good as possible instead of transforming them into something that may not fit you. There are numerous professional happinesslifetime.com hair care products you may use for curly hair. The shampoo and conditioner you use should be sulfate-free because this type of hair is very sensitive and needs extra protection. There is no need to wash your tresses every day; you may however, take advantage of the warm showers which open up your follicles and apply conditioner or moisturizing cream during those days when you don't shampoo.Avoid brushing your hair, especially when it is still wet. Stylists recommend passing your fingers through the locks until the hair dries or using a big tooth comb to detangle strands. Dry air is, of course, preferable to blow dry because the frail capillaries may break as a result of hot temperature.Apply a small quantity of leave-in conditioner on the damp hair if you want to be able to easily style it. Don't add too much product as you will cause product build-up, that is, the follicles become suffocated with too much product and they look lifeless. You may bring the shine of your hair back by washing it with a clarifying shampoo once a month. Thanks to the wonderful styling products that professionals have created for curly hair, you may now arrange your tresses without using brushes, blow dryers or hair straighteners. The oil-free serums that are now available on the market can cool down your frizzy capillaries and add texture to your curls, so that your hair will look as if you just stepped out of the salon. The secret for a wonderful hair is not having the tresses you want, but wanting the ones that you have. If you use professionally designed products for curly hair you will soon manage to keep your locks in place and fall in love with your hair again.

  • How to Take Care of Your Hair While You Are on Vacation? - Tips and Tricks

Below, you will find some good information about how to take care of your hair in summer time:Sea water.
Sea water is filled with salt and minerals, which is very good for our face and skin, but very harmful for our hair. Sea water makes hair look dull because salt crystals damage hair scales and they start bristle up. Salt draws out moisture from hair, dries hair out and makes it fragile, messes it up. To avoid it apply protection cosmetics from sun lines for hair. Apply it very generously so that it will be enough to cover every hair. Gels and oils cover hair, sleek hair scales, prevent salt from getting inside. Many of such protection cosmetics have sparkles that provide your hair with healthy glow.In the evening, after swimming do a moisturizing procedure for hair. It will be especially good for dry hair. Mix your daytime protecting product with hair mask and apply to dry hair, then wear a shower hat. Wait for 2-3 minutes, then shampoo your hair and apply the mixture again on wet hair. Wait for 5-10 minutes. You will be pleased by the result.Pool.
Water in pools usually does not contain salt, but it contains something even worse - chlorine. During your vacation chlorinated water will reduce to zero your colorist's hard work. Light color hair will become greenish, maroon - reddish-vinous. To protect your hair from chlorine use same protection hair products from sun lines, be sure that the product has 'anti-chlorine' note on it. You can also use rubber hat to protect hair from chlorine. When you are back from pool rinse your hair with warm water and shampoo it with product from hair sun line. Such shampoos contain anti-chlorine components and also wash away sand and salt good. If your blond hair became greenish use this simple tip - apply a mixture of cleansing face mask with kaolin (white clay) and wash it away in 15 minutes, then generously apply hair conditioner. Your blond will be as good as new.Tap water.
Water that run from taps in Asian and African countries is far from European Standarts. Especially water is bad in Turkey, India and Egypt. Tap water there is hard, contains a lot of lime and not properly cleaned. It is dangerous not only for drinking but also for cleaning face and brushing teeth. Of course no one will bring their own water to vacation, but i highly recommend to buy water from local shops or get it from hotel restaurants and use it for cleaning face, brushing teeth and rinsing hair.

  • Practically Speaking, A Human Hair Lace Front Wig is an Investment You Can't Pass Up!

Everyone's talking about human hair lace front wigs, but why should I invest in one? From a totally practical stand-point, there are several reasons to purchase a human hair lace wig.Practical Reason # 1Although it may seem like an investment, a wig will actually save you a ton of money over the long run.Everyone who has ever had professional straightening done knows that maintaining a chemically relaxed style can cost you hundreds if not thousands of dollars each year. Costs for a straightening at your favorite salon can range from $150 to $1000 a visit depending on where you live. Then there's the fact that every four to six weeks you have to have the same long, expensive procedure done again. Add to that the purchase of specialized happinesslifetime.com hair care products for after your hair has been chemically treated. These products could cost anywhere from $100 to $200. When you start adding up the bucks, a human hair lace front wig is great on the budget.Practical Reason # 2Wigs save time! Securely attaching a human hair wig is ever so much faster than having your hair chemically relaxed. What isn't faster than the up to six hours (if you've got long hair) that it takes to straighten hair? The freedom from having to repeat the process every month and a half is reason enough to rush out and purchase a natural-looking wig. No more chemical straightening also means no more time-consuming hair care ritual after the fact.Practical Reason #3 Speaking of hair care ritual, practical reason number three for purchasing a wig is that it saves your natural hair. The switch from the harsh chemical straighteners to a easy-to care for wig will allow your natural hair to grow out and prevent any more drying, stripping damage to your own hair.OK, so maybe this is more about preference and flexibility and style and fun than it is about practicality, but another reason human hair wigs are a must is that they give you so many more options - easily. In other words, caring for a human hair wig is easy. Just a gentle wash with a gentle shampoo and an air dry (That means it helps to have at least two wigs) and your wig is ready for whatever you are in the mood for. Lace front wigs are easy to wear and look amazingly natural. Virgin human hair wigs can be dyed or styled just like natural hair. You can use your favorite flat iron for the sleek, sophisticated look or your electric curlers for a full-body, sassy bounce. And if you are feeling more laid back, apply a little mousse or gel and that natural, sexy tousled look announces you're ready for fun!Practically speaking, purchasing a human hair lace front wig is one investment you can't afford to pass up!

  • How to Achieve Hair Like Amanda Seyfried

Amanda Seyfried has the kind of long, golden locks many women would die for. The actress, who shot to fame in the movie 'Mean Girls' and went on to take a lead role in the Hollywood blockbuster 'Mamma Mia' (on the set of which she met boyfriend Dominic Cooper), Seyfried is a regular on the red carpet with the ability to carry off all kinds of styles.Seyfried herself has a delicate, heart shaped face with a porcelain complexion and strong cheekbones, so she can carry off a range of styles effortlessly. This is a big plus for the red carpet as it means her hair can be styled according to the outfit she has chosen to wear. Here are some tips on how to create some of her trademark hair styles yourself.Tousled bunSeyfried attended the Tribeca Film Festival wearing a trendy outfit with a youthful hair style to match. The actress updated a classic bun by making it tousled and relaxed, giving it a chic twist. To replicate this style for your own hair, create volume and height by backcombing the back of the hair. Next, pin most of it into place allowing some strands of hair to fall freely. You will need to use a good hairspray to keep the style in place.1940s waveSeyfried has also mastered the 1940s wave - a classic look which she wore with added volume for real Hollywood film star style. To recreate this, use a round bristled brush while blow-drying the hair, this will add volume to the look. Next, section off the hair and use large Velcro rollers to create the desired gentle wave. Pull back one side of the hair and secure with hair grips the same colour as the hair. They will appear invisible and this will create a sleek, chic style. To add shine and bounce to the look, use a light serum cream or shine spray, and finally add salon-quality hairspray to create a smooth finish and natural hold.Multi-tonal highlightsAlong with her varying looks, Seyfried is likely to be receiving regular treatments to achieve her sun kissed, seamless highlights, which work well with her warm skin tone. If you want highlights like Seyfried's, ask your colourist for a full head of multi-tonal blonde highlights, which will need ideally to be applied with a chunky weave. Golden highlights are best suited to lighter skin as they add warmth and depth.MaintenanceOnce the roots start to show, it will be necessary to add colour across the T-section, and one option is to add lighter champagne tones which will show through the more golden highlights underneath. The contrast between colours will be noticeable straight after the first colouring, but quite quickly the colours will blend into one another to give a natural and dazzling appearance.
